Columbus Tamil Sangam was founded to Serve and Promote Tamil and Tamil Culture to the Tamil Speaking Community of Columbus and its surrounding areas.

Mission


  • To foster and promote Tamil Language, literature, values, traditions, culture and art.
  • To provide a secular, non-sectarian and non-profit literary organization for all Tamils living in and around Central Ohio.
  • To provide a forum to the younger generation to participate in literary and cultural programs and to showcase their talents.
  • To hosts events involving Tamil scholars and artists from around the globe for the benefit of Tamils residing in Central Ohio and surrounding regions.
  • To organize events by cooperating and coordinating with other Asian/Indian/Regional organizations with similar objectives.

Who We Are


   Columbus Tamil Sangam (CTS) is a secular, non-profit organization and recognized for tax exempt, 501(C) (3) by IRS. Columbus Tamil Sangam, inaugurated by Nadigar Thilagam Chevalier Sivaji Ganesan in 1996, plays a pivotal role in quenching the cultural appetite of the Tamil community in Central Ohio region. From a small informal assembly of Tamil immigrants, it has now evolved into a well managed strong organization of over a thousand members and dedicated volunteers! Participation and support of celebrities in various fields plays a critical part in bringing quality events by Tamil Sangam.
   Several celebrities like P. Chidambaram, S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, Mano, Karthik, S. Ve. Sekhar, Y. Gee. Mahendran, Crazy Mohan, Gopinath, Prof. Solomon Pappaiah and Pattimandram Raja have decorated the stages over the years and enthralled the Central Ohio Tamil Community with their different facets of skills. Columbus Tamil Sangam has engraved its cultural presence among the Central Ohio Tamil Community by hosting various events in the three dimensions of muththamizh - Iyal, Isai and Nadakam. At the same time, it has been making all efforts to extend help to the mother land in case of need or disaster. Also, in an effort to ensure its younger generation maintain its cultural heritage, Columbus Tamil Sangam has been running a Tamil School fully staffed by volunteers for the past 10 years.
   Columbus Tamil Sangam (CTS) was founded in 1996 and was inaugurated by the great thespian of Tamil cinema, late Chevalier Sivaji Ganeshan. Our goal is to promote the understanding of Tamil language and Tamil culture - as embodied in our Mission Statement.
   CTS has been serving members of the Tamil speaking diaspora in the central Ohio region for more than 15 years. The events and cultural programs that CTS organizes are clustered around the theme of Tamil language and Tamil culture and are conducted all through the calendar year.
